Newcastle United have joined Tottenham in the race to sign highly-rated QPR midfielder, Eberechi Eze, according to a report from the Chronicle.

It is claimed in the report that Newcastle are monitoring the progress of Eze, who has been the standout player for QPR down in the Championship this season.

The Sun has previously claimed that Tottenham could land the midfielder for around £20m. However, the likes of Sheffield United and Crystal Palace are also known to be keen.

But it appears now that Newcastle could well throw themselves into the mix for the Nigerian star.

Eze has already clocked up in excess of 100 appearances for the QPR. This season has been a fine one individually, with the attacking midfielder contributing 12 goals and eight assists in 37 Championship appearances.

Given there is so much interest in Eze, it would appear QPR face a big fight to keep their man. However, Newcastle’s interest could be good news for the R’s given that the new owners are likely to splash the cash.

Given we expect Newcastle to be going all out in the market to bring in big-name players this summer, there has to be a question mark over whether Eze would be a good fit.

Of course, the talent is there. R’s manager, Mark Warburton, has previously described Eze as a ‘tremendous talent’ and someone who has ‘no limits’ when it comes to his potential. (Goal)

However, will Eze get the regular game time at St James’ Park? It’s certainly a question worth asking.

And with so many new signings expected, as well as a potential change in manager, you’d have to say the QPR man needs to think wisely about his next move.
