Report: Newcastle join Everton in Boubacar Kamara race
Newcastle United have joined Everton in the race to sign Boubacar Kamara from Marseille, according to a report from the Chronicle.
After an eventful summer and mixed start to the new Premier League season, the Magpies appear to already be focusing some of their attention on January.
The Chronicle reports that Newcastle are looking at potential signings aged between 17 and 21, and Steve Bruce is set to be handed a ‘competitive’ transfer budget.
The report notes that Kamara has been looked at. The Chronicle reports that Everton are also interested in the defender, who has just signed a new contract with the Ligue 1 side. It is suggested that he is priced at £16 million.
Despite being sent off on Saturday, Kamara looks to be the kind of player who could be a fantastic signing for either the Magpies or Toffees.
The 19-year-old is playing regularly for Marseille. He has already racked up over 50 first-team appearances at Stade Velodrome, so looks to be ready for first-team football in the Premier League.
Newcastle are looking quite strong at the back. They have kept two clean sheets in their last five games. And Liverpool were the only side to put more than one goal past Martin Dubravka in that time.
Nevertheless, Kamara appears to have a lot of potential. So it is not difficult to see why the Magpies are taking an interest when a deal could cost just £16 million.
