Newcastle Untied are reportedly preparing to move for attacker Ademola Lookman from German top-flight club RB Leipzig.
According to Sky Germany, the 22-year-old could leave the Bundesliga side in January after a difficult first half of the season.
It is understood that Newcastle are “very” interested in the English wide man and are preparing to make a loan offer until the end of the season with a purchase option included.
Lookman previously broke into senior football with Charlton Athletic and that earned him a move to Everton in 2017.
After a successful loan spell with Leipzig, the Bundesliga outfit decided to fork out £22.5million (BBC) during last summer’s transfer window to secure him on a permanent basis.
But the winger has played just four first-team games this season in all competitions for Leipzig and been frozen out of their team.

TBR’s View:
Newcastle’s attack certainly looks toothless at times, but they are five points above the relegation places in the Premier League and should have enough to stay up under manager Steve Bruce.
But supporters are craving for an exciting team at St James’ Park, but that seems impossible if speed machines Miguel Almiron and Allan Saint-Maximin aren’t on the pitch.
Lookman is an intriguing Newcastle target certainly worth a gamble on loan, as he’s a great dribbler and may inject some extra quality into the final third.
But the youngster hasn’t played a lot of football lately and is nowhere near the finished article.
