Newcastle United are interested in signing Cody Gakpo, with 90min reporting that PSV Eindhoven are holding out for £42.7 million for the 23-year-old this summer.
Gakpo is wanted by a host of Premier League sides after a stunning campaign in the Eredivisie. And he already has three goals and three assists in three top-flight games this time around.

Reports at the start of the summer claimed that he was Arsenal’s top target. Meanwhile, 90min reports that Everton, Leeds and Leicester are also monitoring Gakpo. Leeds made an approach earlier in the window, too.
But it appears to be Southampton making the biggest play for the Netherlands international right now. 90min reports that they have made it clear to PSV that they would be willing to pay £34.2 million for Gakpo.

PSV are holding out for a lot more, it seems. And 90min adds that Newcastle are also keeping tabs on the forward’s situation.
Newcastle interested in Cody Gakpo
Newcastle signing Gakpo in the final days of the transfer window would be a further statement from the Magpies. Of course, they have only recently smashed their transfer record to sign Alexander Isak.
Gakpo looks to be one of the most exciting forwards around right now. He has been directly involved in 85 goals in 143 appearances for PSV. And most of those appearances have seen Gakpo deployed on the left of a front three.
Obviously, the fee is a big one considering that he is unproven in one of Europe’s biggest leagues. But the amount of Premier League interest tells its own story regarding his potential.
Of those in the running, Newcastle may be in the strongest position to go near what PSV want for Gakpo.
