Newcastle United are interested in Matheus Nunes, with Foot Mercato reporting that the Magpies have been joined by Everton and Wolves in making an approach for the Sporting midfielder.
The Portuguese top-flight has provided two of the Premier League’s most exciting signings in recent months. Both Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez have joined Liverpool.

And Nunes may get the chance to move from England from the remaining of the country’s heavyweights. The 23-year-old made 50 appearances for Sporting in all competitions this past season.
One of those appearances came against Manchester City in the Champions League. His side were beaten 5-0 by the Cityzens. But that did not stop Pep Guardiola labelling Nunes ‘one of the best players in the world‘ right now.

It is not City trying to bring him to the Premier League however. Foot Mercato reports that approaches have been made by Newcastle, Everton and Wolves.
Sporting have rejected an offer of £39.2 million for Nunes. They have informed his admirers that he is not leaving for under his £52.3 million release clause.
Newcastle interested in Matheus Nunes
Newcastle may be wary of making a bid for Nunes. Reports this week claimed that they are looking to spend no more than £100 million this summer.
So signing the youngster would see half of their budget taken up in one deal.
Of course, they may feel that that is worth doing. He looks to be an incredible talent with a fantastic future ahead. And it does appear that he may well be on his way to the Premier League sooner or later.
For Everton, it would be a huge statement. The Toffees are looking to bounce back from a poor campaign. And it is not expected that they will spend big in this window.
So signing Nunes would be quite something.
