Report: Newcastle interested in coveted Championship winger

Newcastle United are reportedly one of two Premier League clubs interested in signing highly rated Championship winger Daniel James this summer.

Wales Online claim the Swansea City man is a possible target for the Magpies and Bournemouth and not Manchester United and Liverpool as was reported by The Daily Mail.

James has emerged as hot property having made his league debut for the club back in October.

The Wales international has caught the eye with some blistering performances from out wide, with Leeds United reportedly almost signing him in January.

The Whites have been tipped to try again for James this summer, but it looks as though they could face competition from Newcastle and Bournemouth.

Reportedly valued at £10 million (Chronicle Live), James could be a really smart long-term investment for Newcastle.

The Magpies need fresh impetus in the wide areas with Kenedy unlikely to be kept and Christian Atsu’s form concerning.

He would surely fall within Newcastle’s summer budget, and his stunning pace could be a huge weapon for them next season.

Newcastle may fancy their chances of a transfer, with James out of contract at the Liberty Stadium in the summer of 2020.
