Football site 90Min claim Newcastle are in talks to raid Tottenham Hotspur for United States international Cameron Carter-Vickers before the deadline.

Carter-Vickers, 23, is in the final year of his contract. He is likely to be on the move before the end of the day. Newcastle have been linked this summer.

The powerhouse centre-back clocked up his fifth senior outing for Spurs earlier this season – but has been on loan at six different English sides.

Sheffield United, Luton Town, Swansea City, Ipswich Town, Bournemouth and Stoke have all brought in Carter-Vickers on loan from Tottenham.

Now, Newcastle are in talks to get Carter-Vickers – ahead of a loan deal despite his contract situation. The Toon need additions.

Carter-Vickers to Newcastle: Tottenham man not the only one

It seems Newcastle have finally kicked into gear on deadline day. Carter-Vickers is a good signing for the Toon if they can get him over the line.

But the report states that Newcastle remain in talks to get Leicester’s Hamza Choudhury – again on loan. Newcastle are also speaking to Chelsea.

The report says a couple of players are the subject of talks between Newcastle and Chelsea ahead of late moves on deadline day.

But Carter-Vickers will be a much-needed addition. Toon fans are frustrated at a lack of signings, hardly improving since last season.

So, at least there is some good news – albeit incredibly late – for Toon fans.
