Report: Newcastle in talks over 'spectacular' £10m playmaker, he's on par with Coutinho

Newcastle United are in talks over bringing Ludovic Blas to St James’ Park, according to the Daily Star.

The Magpies are currently bolstering their ranks as they look to build a team capable of surviving in the Premier League.

Newcastle have already signed Kieran Trippier and Chris Wood, and are apparently in talks over a new centre-back.

The Magpies could certainly do with a top player to link midfield and attack, and Blas seems like he fits the bill.

As well as Newcastle, Watford are apparently also in talks with the Nantes ace.

Blas has made 20 appearances in all competitions this season, registering eight goals and an assist.

Last season, he got 10 goals and five assists from just 36 Ligue 1 appearances.

In addition, the 24-year-old recorded the most successful dribbles in the 2020-21 Ligue 1 campaign with 80.

He has completed the fifth-most dribbles in Ligue 1 since the 2017/18 campaign.

Most of Blas’ appearances have come at No. 10, but he’s an incredibly versatile player.

As per Transfermarkt, he has played all over midfield, on the flanks, and even as a striker.

According to a November report from Lancashire Live, Blas has a £10million price tag.

“He’s incredible, spectacular”

The Daily Star has also shared comments from Nantes teammate Pedro Chirivella, who came through the ranks at Liverpool.

“When it comes to pure talent, I rate Ludovic Blas above all others,” Chirivella told French magazine So Foot.

“I played with Coutinho, Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, I know what they are capable of.

“And when I see what Ludo is doing in training or in games, he has nothing to envy them when it comes to talent.

“He’s incredible, spectacular, and his future looks bright.

“We are often lined up together in the middle, we see football the same way, and it is a pleasure to grow alongside him.”
