Newcastle United have reportedly submitted a bid in an attempt to sign striker Callum Wilson from Bournemouth, who were relegated from the Premier League last season.
According to Sky Sports, the Magpies have made an offer totalling £20million for the English centre-forward and are yet to hear if it’s been accepted or rejected.
The report adds that Premier League rivals Aston Villa saw their offer of £15million plus add-ons for him turned down on Friday.
It is claimed that the 28-year-old wants to depart Championship side Bournemouth this summer and is keen to join either Newcastle or Villa ahead of the new season.
Wilson couldn’t save Bournemouth from relegation last season, but did score nine goals in 39 games across all competitions and was one of their top performers.
He’s a quick striker that has earned four senior international caps for England and has shown he can be a real threat at Premier League level.

TBR’s View:
Newcastle transfer speculation is certainly speeding up over the weekend and it looks like Steve Bruce’s side are desperate to add some more quality at St James’ Park.
There is certainly the foundations of a strong team already at the club and the Toon finished 13th last season, but the fans have bigger aspirations and a few marquee additions could boost them up the table.
They are crying out for a striker that can finish and Wilson has an eye-catching record of 41 goals in 126 Premier League matches, so Newcastle fans could be expecting 10-plus goals every season.
