TalkSPORT have claimed that Newcastle United have seen a bid for Ecuador international Moises Caicedo rejected though the midfielder is still set for a move to the Premier League – with Brighton having seemingly won the race.
Caicedo, 19, is currently contracted at Ecuadorian side Independiente Del Valle where he has a deal until the summer of 2024. Despite his tender age, he has clocked up 31 senior appearances for his current side, scoring six goals.
Manchester United had been initially linked with Caicedo but have since opted to pull out of a move. Now, The Seagulls are now first choice in the race to sign South American midfielder Caicedo, who is clearly a proper talent.
However, Brighton have had to fend off interest from more than just Manchester United. Indeed, it is claimed that Newcastle made a late offer to lure Caicedo to the north of England – rather than the south. That has been rejected.

TBR’s view – Caicedo has enormous potential
South American football is a hotbed for young talent. Lacking the money of European clubs, they rely heavily on their academy systems and scouting networks to bring through younger players and earning money for it.
Caicedo is an example of this. Now a regular for his current side, he has shown huge ability at a senior level – enough to even earn four caps for Ecuador. Newcastle may rue their inability to beat Brighton in pursuit of the midfielder.
