Report: Newcastle have appointed 3 firms to source a new Chief Executive
Newcastle United are hoping to appoint a new Chief Executive before they make a decision on a new manager, and have made a key behind the scenes call to help them with their search.
PIF and Amanda Staveley are looking to get the right CEO into the club and The Telegraph claims that they want them in before decision over a new manager is made. Crucially, the report claims that PIF have enlisted the help of as any as three head-hunting firms to aid their search.
It is hoped that the right Chief Executive at Newcastle can help yield success in the transfer market. Working with the new manager – Steve Bruce is set to be sacked – the CEO will play a key role at St James’ Park.
The Telegraph reports that three names are already under consideration for the role. Jason Wilcox has been touted, as have Ralf Rangnick and respected Liverpool guru, Frank McParland.
Since Mike Ashley left the club last week, Newcastle have been linked with a host of new players. A spending spree in January is expected.
TBR’s View: CEO appointment just as important as manager
With the long-term vision for the club being to build the squad, stadium, training ground, and academy to be better, then getting the right CEO is absolutely essential.
It’s no use having a top manager and good players if you can’t get the rest right off the field. A CEO would have a wide range of tasks. One of them would be transfers. And while that’s important, the other areas are also vital.
Newcastle have done the right thing here going about landing a CEO in the right way. The club’s fans, then, will be hoping the right appointment comes.
