Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka is reportedly set to face a spell on the sidelines with an injury problem.
According to the Times, the Magpies number one suffered a knee injury during his team’s 1-0 victory over Southampton at the weekend in the Premier League.
It is explained that the injury is worse than initially feared and he left the weekend’s game on crutches after completing the 90 minutes, with the incident taking place before the hour mark.
The report details that the Slovakia international will be absent for at least a month, meaning he will miss the FA Cup quarter-final against Manchester City at St James’ Park.
Dubravka is arguably the outstanding individual within Steve Bruce’s squad and losing him for an extended period is going to be a serious blow.
He has nine clean sheets in the league this season and has been a consistent performer since he joined the club for £4million (Sun) on a permanent basis back in 2018.

TBR’s View:
Dubravka will prove to be such a massive loss at the back during his absence and he deserves to mentioned alongside some of the best performing goalkeepers in the Premier League during the last couple of years.
The 31-year-old is going to gutted to miss the huge cup game against Manchester City and he would have been a big help in trying to cause an upset.
Newcastle find themselves eight points clear of safety in the league table and surely away from any relegation trouble, but may still need another win or two in their remaining nine games to make sure.
It should open the door for Karl Darlow to try impress and it’s a hugely difficult task to try emulate Dubravka, who so often keeps his team in games with incredible reflex saves.
