Newcastle United goalkeeper Freddie Woodman has reportedly agreed a loan deal with Championship club Swansea City.
According to the Chronicle, the shot-stopper has penned a season-long loan deal at the Liberty Stadium.
It is understood that the England Under-21 international has signed a one-year contract extension at St James’ Park and will spend the upcoming season out on loan with Swanseas.
The report details that the 22-year-old travelled on Wednesday to wrap up a deal and it was agreed late at night.
Newcastle are yet to confirm Woodman’s exit, but it appears like that could be imminent.
The colossus goalkeeper has previously had loans with Hartlepool United, Crawley Town, Kilmarnock and Aberdeen, while he now looks set for his first crack in the Championship.
Woodman was restricted to just three senior Newcastle appearances last season in the FA Cup and it makes sense for him to go out on loan to continue his development.
Steve Bruce looks likely to stick with the impressive Martin Dubravka in net for the upcoming campaign and he’s been such a consistent performer since he joined the club.
Woodman is a highly-rated talent that simply needs first-team minutes and a stint in the Championship looks perfect.
A switch to Swansea will be brilliant for the Englishman if he can cement the number one position and improve his own game.
He’s already got a great presence in commanding his box and can play out from the back comfortably too like most modern goalkeepers.
