Newcastle United are interested in signing Leandro Trossard, with the Daily Mail reporting that the Magpies could let Allan Saint-Maximin go to increase their transfer kitty this summer.

Saint-Maximin has been a shining light for Magpies fans throughout much of his spell on Tyneside. But reports of late have suggested that he could be sold this summer. He is reportedly attracting attention and could go for £50 million.

Certainly, Newcastle have a raft of targets in mind should the Frenchman move on. And according to the Daily Mail, one of the names on their wishlist is Trossard.

Trossard is approaching the final year of his contract with Brighton, and wants a move. And he is on the cusp of enjoying his best year yet in front of goal for the Seagulls.

The Belgium international has scored five Premier League goals in every season since his £15 million move. He reached that number with a brilliant goal against Arsenal at the weekend.

And obviously, he now has seven games to improve further on his current tally.

Newcastle will seemingly be monitoring how he gets on in the remaining games.

Leandro Trossard would have point to prove if he arrived at Newcastle

Trossard has plenty of experience in the Premier League. And he clearly has the ability to produce moments of real quality. Alan Shearer described a goal he scored this season as ‘magnificent‘.

But it may not be a move that inspires the Newcastle fans. His tally of 15 goals in 99 games hardly captures the imagination, even if he has played in several different positions.

He definitely has the potential to be a brilliant signing. But Newcastle fans will hope that he can take his game to the next level, particularly if he arrives off the back of Saint-Maximin leaving.
