Newcastle United are one of the teams considering making a move for Kyle Bartley this summer, with The Telegraph reporting that Burnley also want the West Bromwich Albion defender.

The situation is currently looking bleak for Sam Allardyce’s men. The Baggies are currently 10 points off safety with nine games remaining.

But whatever happens, it appears that there is a good chance that Bartley could remain in the top flight once again next season.

According to The Telegraph, both the Magpies and Burnley want the 29-year-old. And it is suggested that they could make a move if West Brom fail to get themselves out of trouble.

The report notes that Bartley will only have one year left on his contract this summer. So it appears that the Baggies will certainly have a decision to make.

ESPN recently noted that West Brom will hope to cut the wage bill if they do go down. Kieran Gibbs’s £70,000-a-week wages are set to be moved on, with the left-back heading for the exit.

Bartley is a senior figure at the Hawthorns, so it would be no surprise if he was on a substantial wage also.

He has impressed at times in the top flight. So he may be a shrewd signing should another club make their move.
