Report: Newcastle eye Leicester midfielder, Tottenham also interested

The Telegraph have claimed that Newcastle United are interested in raiding Leicester City for speedster Demarai Gray this summer, but could face competition from Tottenham Hotspur who were linked earlier this month.

Gray, 24, has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Leicester and could push for a move away from the King Power this summer. Indeed, he has started just eight of his 29 league and cup appearances.

The England Under-21 international has clocked up 167 appearances for Leicester since joining the club in 2016, helping the Foxes win the Premier League. But this summer is likely to be the end of his Leicester stay.

The Times recently claimed that Jose Mourinho was looking to lure Gray to Tottenham, but the latest report from the Telegraph states that Newcastle are also interested in signing the winger.

Steve Bruce has a couple of parts to what could be an exciting jigsaw. A top goalkeeper Martin Dubravka, fantastic options at centre-back, potentially Danny Rose, Jonjo Shelvey, and some excellent attackers.

But Newcastle lack a crucial ingredients. A new right-back, a partner for Shelvey, a winger and a striker are required. Bringing Gray to the club would see Newcastle solve one of those missing pieces.
