Report: Newcastle decide they’re changing transfer plans after what’s happened with their ‘amazing’ player

The form of Miguel Almiron has pushed Newcastle United to alter their transfer plans for the forthcoming transfer window.

The Athletic report that the Magpies were looking for a right-sided wide forward during the summer but did not get one.

That transfer aim was set to continue into the winter window, but now Eddie Howe has changed tack after Almiron’s stunning October.

Newcastle still want another wide option but it does not have to be someone to play on the right, with Almiron in possession of that role in the team right now.

Newcastle alter transfer plans because of Almiron

A new contract may soon be on its way for the midfielder too, underlining his new-found status in the side.

Ryan Fraser is now considered a left-sided option, but any new face in the transfer window may also be able to play on that flank too.

Howe was pushing Newcastle to sign a new right-sided forward during the summer and wanted another option in that role on top of Almiron.

Almiron has been getting the plaudits in recent weeks and rightly so, with just one example being Bruno Guimaraes calling him ‘amazing‘.

But he has to keep it going now. It is no use Newcastle prioritising other roles in the window, only for Almiron’s goals to dry up thereafter.

The article also makes the point that Almiron needs to get his assists up to be a more complete wide forward, but he is more than capable of doing that.
