Newcastle United are ready to make their move for Clement Lenglet in the summer, with Sport in Spain reporting that the Magpies hierarchy are crazy about the Barcelona defender.

Eddie Howe’s men can surely now start to put more stock into their plans for another Premier League season. They have been on an unbelievable run of late. Liverpool are the only Premier League side to have taken more points from their last six games.

Despite their form, it seems likely that the club will eye improvements all over the pitch ahead of next season. And one of the players they apparently have their eye on is Lenglet.

Sport reports that Barcelona need to sell before they can buy this summer. And with that, the 26-year-old could be on the move. And the Premier League could be his destination.

Sport claims that the Newcastle board are crazy about Lenglet. They were keen to sign the Frenchman during the January transfer window. But with some doubt over their Premier League status, marquee targets were reluctant to move to Tyneside.

Newcastle are now ready to meet Barca’s demands for Lenglet and put the contract he wants on the table.

Newcastle signing Lenglet would be a huge statement this summer

Lenglet has not always been able to hold down a regular spot in the side at Barcelona. But he would have the potential to be an amazing signing for Newcastle.

The former Sevilla star was previously described as ‘world-class‘ by Didier Deschamps. And at his age, he is heading into what should be the peak years of his career.

He is someone who has made nearly 150 appearances for Barcelona in all competitions. So it would be a major coup for Newcastle if they could now get a deal done in the coming months.

Certainly, it would appear that the club are ready to do all they can to secure a transfer.
