Report: Newcastle could target Tottenham star Dele Alli

Newcastle United could make a move for Tottenham Hotspur star Dele Alli next summer, according to a report from Sport in Spain.

Magpies fans will be hoping that they start to see some significant changes at St James’ Park in the near future.

But one area where patience will be required is transfers. Of course, January is still a couple of months away. And most of their big business will surely come in the summer.

A host of names that Newcastle fans could have only dreamed about a week ago have been linked since their new owners arrived.

According to Sport, one of those who could be on their radar is Dele.

Of course, Tottenham may have something to say about interest in the 25-year-old. He has started six of their Premier League games this season.

But it is fair to say that Dele has not had the best time in recent years. And it appears that Nuno Espirito Santo is also still working out what position is best to deploy Dele in.

Maybe Tottenham will see benefit of selling Dele Alli should Newcastle make move

There was a time when Dele was one of the players Spurs would have earmarked for keeping at all costs.

He scored 28 goals across his first two years in the Premier League following his £5 million move. There was also 16 assists in those campaigns.

Unfortunately, he has looked a shell of that player for much of the last few years.

And if he cannot rediscover anything like that form, perhaps Spurs have to consider whether they may be better off letting him go.

Tottenham cannot sell him on the cheap. But Newcastle have huge amounts of money to spend.

If Spurs can therefore, attract a big fee, perhaps it may be best for all parties – including Dele – if a deal is agreed.
