Newcastle United are said to be confident of completing a triple deal this week which will see Ryan Fraser, Callum Wilson, and Rob Holding arrive at St James’ Park.
90Min is reporting that Steve Bruce is set to get all three players through the door in what will be a major boost to his squad in a summer which has seen a proposed takeover collapse and Mike Ashley remain in charge.
Wilson and Fraser look set to arrive on permanent deals. The Bournemouth pair were both in demand following the club’s relegation, although Fraser had already left the club after refusing to play post-lockdown.
Holding, meanwhile, is set to arrive from Arsenal on a loan deal for the season as Mikel Arteta continues to reshape his squad at The Emirates.
The only fee set to be paid is for striker Wilson. However, Aston Villa remains in the hunt, with the BBC claiming Dean Smith was looking to seal a £20m deal for the forward.
A huge boost for Newcastle if it comes off this – TBR View
This is exactly what Steve Bruce needed in terms of a boost to his squad. He needed new bodies and needed players of proven quality, of which all three are.
The signing of Wilson will be the marquee one. The Magpies need goals and Joelinton has struggled so Wilson should prove a shrewd acquisition.
Fraser too should help in attacking areas and Holding will be desperate for a prolonged run of appearances after struggling to get consistent game-time in the Arsenal squad.
