Newcastle United are reportedly closing in on a deal to sign South American Rogerio from Serie A club Sassuolo.
Sky Italy journalist Ginaluca Di Marzio has claimed on his official website that the Brazilian defender is just steps away from completing a switch to St James’ Park.
It is claimed that the left-back will completed a £12.5million move to the Premier League from Italian top-flight side Sassuolo.
The report adds that negotiations between the two teams are close and they are finalising the final details, but it’s expected to reach a positive conclusion.
Rogerio, 22, is an emerging talent in Italian football that has already played 61 games in Serie A at his age, so Newcastle look set to bring someone in with plenty of potential but also some experience.
The left-footed full-back is someone that likes to attack with his speed and he was previously on the books at Juventus.
Newcastle certainly need to strengthen in the left-back ahead of the new Premier League season and it looks like they could be about to complete an exciting piece of business.
Rogerio looks like he could be a long-term solution for the Magpies if he settles quickly and they’ve been searching for an answer in that position, as they had Danny Rose arrive on loan for the second half of last season.
