Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing midfielder Ibrahima Sissoko from French top-flight club Strasbourg.
According to the Sun, the Magpies are planning to add the 22-year-old to their squad when the transfer window re-opens in January.
It is understood that Newcastle are “close” to agreeing a £13million deal for him and he will soon be granted permission for personal talks.
The report explains it’s likely the 6ft 4in colossus will approve of a switch to England and he will add some extra steel in the centre of the park for Steve Bruce’s side.
Sissoko is a physical defensive midfielder with a lot of strength and he could be an ideal fit in Premier League football.

TBR’s View:
Newcastle fans should be pleased if the club spend money in the January window, as they currently sit just above the relegation spots in the Premier League and manager Steve Bruce has a tough job on his hands keeping the club in the top-flight.
Sissoko is a promising young talent that has made a name for himself in France and he could add some extra quality in the Newcastle midfield.
But it would be criminal if the Magpies don’t prioritise fresh additions in the attacking department, as it’s a lack of goals that is really letting them down at present and they need to try sign a natural finisher.
