According to the Mirror, Newcastle are closing in on a deal for Wolfsburg and Netherlands international striker Bas Dost.
Newly appointed head coach Steve McClaren is yet to complete a transfer as Newcastle manager, with the Dutch hitman expected to represent the club’s first arrival of the summer.
The 26-year-old, who is expected to join the Toon for a fee of £9 million scored 16 goals in the Bundesliga last season and netted in Wolfsburg’s German Cup Final win over Borussia Dortmund.
Throughout a campaign in which he notched 19 successful strikes in all competitions, he also registered his first two appearances at international level, both of which came in March.

Newcastle struggled for goals throughout the 2014/15 campaign, with Papiss Cisse the only player to reach double figures (11).
Dost, who notched four in one match as The Wolves claimed an emphatic 5-4 victory over Bayer Leverkusen, is clearly a man who’s clinical eye for goal would aid the Magpies.
