Report: Newcastle boss Steve Bruce to be given £200m to spend this summer

The Daily Mirror have claimed that Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce will be handed a huge £200million to spend this summer, as a potential takeover creeps closer to the finish line.

Amanda Staveley looks set to finally broker a deal with Mike Ashley after three years of trying, as her PCP Capital Partners group have gained the financial backing of the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund. The latter will control 80%.

Staveley’s PCP and the Reuben Brothers will share 10% each. The ambitous new board will be looking to push Newcastle into the Champions League, and plan on reaching that by injecting a hefty some of cash three times in the next three years.

The first will be a huge £200million for Bruce to spend on players – but also the club’s training ground and the academy systems in order for the club to produce better talent and attract better players.

TBR’s view – Which players will survive at Newcastle

Miguel Almiron has come good and is considered by many to be the heartbeat of everything good Newcastle do, as is winger Allan Saint-Maximin. Fabian Schar, Martin Dubvravka, Jamaal Lascelles and Federico Fernandez are all likely to be safe.

The Longstaff brothers are the future, and are likely to remain, while a permanent deal for Jetro Willems could be arranged. But if Bruce is given as much as the aforementioned figure to spend, a whole new side could start next term.

The likes of Arturo Vidal, Coutinho and Antoine Griezmann have already been linked – but a takeover is likely to be a few weeks away, as of yet.
