Newcastle United believe that they have received some encouragement from Tottenham Hotspur that they will accept a nominal fee for Danny Rose this month, according to a report from the London Evening Standard.
Rose has fallen out of favour under Jose Mourinho. And the London Evening Standard reports that a number of sides are interested in offering him a fresh challenge.
The report suggests Newcastle are one club who want the 29-year-old.
And Spurs are reportedly hoping that Rose will be open to a move having previously stated that he wants to see out the rest of his contract.
The London Evening Standard suggests that the Magpies have been encouraged that Jose Mourinho will be happy to let Rose leave for only a nominal fee.
TBR View – Newcastle clear one stumbling block, but other hurdles remain
Newcastle have seemingly cleared one hurdle as they look to sign Rose. Spurs are apparently not planning to stand in his way if a club comes in.
However, there may be a few more for Steve Bruce’s men to contend with before a deal is done.
The Magpies do not appear to be Rose’s only admirers. And they are reportedly relying on the defender experiencing a change of heart.
It remains to be seen if Rose is open to moving away from Tottenham this month. But it would certainly be a statement if Newcastle could lure him to St James’ Park.
