CalcioMercato claim that Newcastle United are battling Andriy Shevchenko’s new side Genoa to sign Chelsea star Christian Pulisic.
Pulisic, 23, is struggling for game time at Chelsea. An injury has seen him fall down the pecking order, despite two goals in three league games.
The 41-time USA star is being linked with a Chelsea exit come the January window, given his last two league outings have been from the bench.
Ex-Chelsea striker Shevchenko has just completed a move to Genoa as manager, having impressed as boss of Ukraine – especially at Euro 2020.
Now, he is looking to raid his old club to sign Pulisic – though it is seen as incredibly ambitious. They say Genoa are rivalling Newcastle for him.

Pulisic to Newcastle: Captain America saves Toon from relegation
That is it. Chelsea’s no.10 is a sensational player that has not been given a fair go under Thomas Tuchel. Goals, assists, work rate, he has it all.
Not only that, but Pulisic can play on either wing or as a 10. In Eddie Howe’s 3-4-3, he would surely play from the right – supporting Callum Wilson.
A front three of Allan Saint-Maximin, Wilson and Pulisic is a lethal one. Some top-half Premier League clubs would love to have such a front three.
Such a good signing, even on loan, that it would keep Newcastle in the Premier League. He is a quality player, with Champions League quality.
