Italian outlet Tutto Hellas Verona have claimed that Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Crystal Palace are all interested in signing striker Fabio Borini this summer, on a free transfer.

The former Chelsea, Liverpool, Sunderland and Swansea City striker is out of contract this summer despite only joining Serie A side Hellas Verona in the January transfer window on a free from AC Milan. He has since scored twice in six games.

The one-time Italy international is renowned for his ability to play either side of a front three, or even spearhead an attack. The 29-year-old has played 111 times in the Premier League throughout his career, scoring 16 times.

Newcastle, Villa and Palace are all keen on Borini – with current Toon boss Steve Bruce reportedly trying to sign Borini last summer, as per Sport Mediaset. That is despite Borini clocking up 93 appearances for Sunderland.

TBR’s view – Is Borini good enough for the Premier League?

Let go by AC Milan in January after appearing just twice during the first half of the season, Borini has since impressed at Verona before the global health crisis struck. But the Serie A is some way behind the Premier League.

Experienced, versatile and hard-working, Borini is certainly a decent option from the bench – especially given he is available on a free transfer. A cheap option for any of the interested parties.
