French outlet Le10Sport has claimed that Newcastle United have joined Everton in the race to sign Nice powerhouse Malang Sarr in the coming months – but face competition from Borussia Dortmund and Napoli.
Newcastle have been linked with a whole host of players as Amanda Staveley’s efforts to takeover from Mike Ashley seem to be edging closer, after a £300million offer was accepted. A deal is believed to be nearing completion in the coming weeks.
Another player has been linked with a move to Newcastle amid a potential takeover. Centre-back Sarr, 21, has starred for Nice since coming into the side and despite his tender age, the France Under-21 international has clocked up 119 senior outings.
Sarr has chosen not to renew his contract at Nice, which expires this summer, as per the report. Available on a free, Sarr is not short of potential suitors and Newcastle have joined Lucien Favre’s Dortmund, Napoli and Everton in the race for his signature.

TBR’s view – Sarr would be a stunning signing, given his age
That goes for both Everton and Newcastle. One of the best, young centre-backs in European football, Sarr has already shown enormous quality and great maturity despite his young age – which are the main reasons behind the faith in him at Nice.
Even if he does not start for Newcastle and Everton to begin with, Sarr has enormous resale value – if signed on a free – and is showing the kind of potential that could make him one of the best central defenders in the Premier League.
