French outlet Le10Sport claim both Newcastle United and Chelsea are interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Alphonse Areola, who has spent the 2019-20 season on loan at Real Madrid.
Areola, 27, is unlikely to remain at PSG this summer despite having three years left on his contract. That is because he would remain as back-up to Keylor Navas, who continues to prove age is just a number as PSG goalkeeper.
It saw Areola move to Real Madrid last summer to rival Thibaut Courtois but Areola has managed just eight appearances for the Spanish giants. PSG are willing to sell Areola to bring in some cash for transfers.
Newcastle and Chelsea are supposedly interested in the player who was part of France’s 2018 World Cup triumph – and is represented by notorious Mino Raiola. His quality is undeniable, keeping 53 clean sheets in 107 PSG games.

TBR’s view – Areola would start for Chelsea, but Newcastle?
It is a rare occasion in which Areola would be better off joining Chelsea than Newcastle, with Areola unlikely to start over Martin Dubravka – but without hesitation, would get into Frank Lampard’s side over Kepa Arrizabalaga.
It remains to be seen how much PSG would charge for Areola this summer. It looks unlikely that Real will sign Areola permanently, and Chelsea would be ideal. Newcastle should only be interested, if Dubravka leaves.
