Report: Newcastle among Premier League clubs interested in £20million-rated striker
Newcastle United are reportedly among the clubs interested in Celtic’s Odsonne Edouard.
According to the Daily Record, Newcastle are keen on taking the 23-year-old forward from Scottish football to English football this summer.
It is explained that they are joined in the hunt for his signature by Arsenal and Aston Villa, who are also tracking him.
However, the report adds that English rivals and recent FA Cup winners Leicester City are a fourth Premier League team keen, plus they are the ones preparing an offer.
The Daily Record suggests that the Celtic frontman is a £20million-rated player, but Leicester are poised to make an opening £15million bid.
Edouard, who scored 22 goals in 40 games across all competitions this season for Scottish giants Celtic, has enough quality to make the switch to the Premier League based off his progression in the last few years at Parkhead.
He’s an all-action French striker that is a deadly composed finisher around the box, plus he’s very technical when the ball comes into his feet.
The talented attacker has been a goal machine for Celtic in recent seasons, and his return of seven goals in 19 Europa League games in his career so far gives him some extra pedigree.
Newcastle have superb striker Callum Wilson in their squad at St James’ Park, but have totally lacked cover and competition for him this season.
Edouard looks a potential bargain for £20million.
