Newcastle could enter the mix to sign Barcelona and France forward, Ousmane Dembele, with TeamTalk claiming the Toon’s new-found wealth could give them a chance of striking a deal.
TeamTalk’s report claims Liverpool are leading the pack of clubs chasing the World Cup winning Dembele. Despite Barcelona paying just shy of £100m for him in 2017, the Frenchman can walk away for nothing this summer as things stand.
At the time of his signing, the BBC claimed Dembele had a release-clause in his contract of around £369m. Such is his talent and potential, the Catalan club were keen to protect their investment.

However, Dembele could now go for free and Newcastle are said to be in with a shout of landing him. TeamTalk claims that the Magpies could take advantage of their new investment to see if they can land Dembele as a statement signing.
One sticking point could be Dembele’s injury issues. The 24-year-old has had rotten luck while in Spain, and has yet to really prove he is over those problems.
TBR’s View: Dembele a player who’d capture Newcastle fans’ attention
There’s no doubting that Dembele would be the sort of name who would make everyone sit up and take notice. A player who was seen as a successor to Neymar at Newcastle would be quite something.
However, he has a lot to prove. And while money won’t be an issue for the Toon, they’ll not want an injury prone star eating a big chunk of their wage budget.
But, Dembele would turn heads. And if he could get to his best, then Newcastle would have a potentially world-class player on their hands.
