Newcastle United have seen a move for defender Emil Krafth turned down by French club Amiens.
The 24-year-old only joined the Ligue 1 side this summer on a permanent basis after spending last season on loan with them.
According to the Sun, Amiens paid £2million for the right-back this summer and Newcastle have already swooped in to try sign him.
It is understood that the Magpies have seen an offer of £4.5million turned down, but Amiens will demand a higher fee.
The report details that Krafth wants a switch to St James’ Park, as he realises a “lucrative deal” could be on offer.
Krafth was a consistent performer last season for a team that finished just above the relegation places in Ligue 1.
He’s a solid option that Newcastle could add to strengthen their squad, but whether he would pip DeAndre Yedlin to the right-back position remains to be seen.

TBR’s View:
Sweden international Krafth certainly shouldn’t be a priority target for Newcastle during the remainder of the summer window and they should abandon the pursuit for him, as they could end up paying over the odds for him.
New manager Steve Bruce should put faith in Yedlin to continue his consistent work on the right flank, while Javier Manquillo can act as cover.
Despite adding striker Joelinton to the squad, the biggest concern should still be if the Magpies have enough goals in the team ahead of the new campaign.
