Newcastle United have reportedly agreed a fee with Norwich City for their defender Jamal Lewis

According to Sky Sports, the Magpies submitted a £13.5million offer for the left-back and it’s been accepted by Norwich.

It is understood that Liverpool previously stated their interest in the 22-year-old earlier this window, but Steve Bruce’s side have now managed to agree a transfer fee for him.

The report doesn’t indicate anything about personal terms, but he’s currently away on international duty.

Lewis suffered relegation from the top-flight during the last campaign, but does already have a full season of Premier League experience under his belt and is very highly-rated.

The left-footed full-back loves to attack with his pace and is a great outlet on the wing, plus he scored a memorable cracker against Leicester City in February.

TBR’s View:

Lewis may have been part of a Norwich team that were relegated from the Premier League last season, but he was playing in a backline full of inexperience and most of them were learning on the job.

The Northern Ireland international was one of the eye-catching players at Carrow Road last season and looks far too good to play in the upcoming campaign in the second-tier.

Liverpool’s reported interest shows the kind of potential Lewis has, but he’s good enough now to come into the starting XI at St James’ Park and make a difference straight away.
