Report: Napoli ready for talks with Tottenham over Tanguy Ndombele fee
Napoli are looking to quickly hold talks with Tottenham Hotspur at the start of the January transfer window in the hope of agreeing a lower price to sign Tanguy Ndombele permanently, according to a report from Foot Mercato.
Ndombele is rebuilding his career in Naples. He left in the summer after a disappointing loan spell with Lyon during the second-half of last season. Before that, Antonio Conte had become the latest boss to lose faith in the midfielder.
The Frenchman took some time to get going in Italy. However, Ndombele has featured in every Serie A game since his first appearance towards the end of August.
Napoli ready for Ndombele talks with Tottenham
Interestingly, he has only completed 90 minutes once in any competition since joining. But it seems that Napoli are very keen on the idea of making his move permanent.
Foot Mercato reports that they have an option to do a deal for £26.5 million. But they would like to pay less for the 25-year-old.
With that, Foot Mercato reports that talks between Tottenham and Napoli are imminent, with the Serie A leaders keen to negotiate a lower price to make Ndombele’s move permanent.
Ndombele meanwhile, is very keen to stay at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
Tottenham cannot afford for Ndombele to return to North London. They have had a difficult enough time trying to offload him so far.
He is obviously winning admirers in Naples. However, his time spent on the pitch suggests that some of the same problems persist. Certainly, you would imagine that Conte will not have changed his mind on him.
Napoli probably know how keen Spurs will be to move him on. So they will fancy their chances of negotiating a better price for them.
Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici will not allow Tottenham to have their pants pulled down, you would expect. But there is surely no doubt that a permanent move to Napoli looks to be best for everyone.
