Napoli midfielder Allan is reportedly hoping to seal a move to Everton before the January transfer window closes.

According to a fresh report from Il Mattino, the Brazilian dynamo is holding out for an approach from the Toffees, with only a couple of days remaining for clubs to do business.

Gianluca Di Marzio reported last week that Carlo Ancelotti wanted to bring the tough-tackling South American to Goodison Park.

The interest is apparently reciprocal, with Allan keen to reunite with the Italian tactician.

Obviously, Ancelotti was the manager of the Serie A club before getting the chop in December and knows the 29-year-old fairly well.

During his brief stint at San Paolo Stadium, Allan featured regularly under Ancelotti, playing 15 times.

With it now being reported (Gianluca Di Marzio) a move for Inter Milan’s Matias Vecino is unlikely for Everton, a move to Merseyside for Allan may not be out of the question.

TBR’s view – Allan would be a great Everton signing

Presuming Everton wouldn’t be paying over the odds, Allan would make a really good signing for the Toffees.

He is the all-action type of midfielder the team is currently lacking.

With the likes of Fabian Delph, Morgan Schneiderlin and Tom Davies it’s all a bit static and lethargic.

Allan, despite being nearly 30, brings dynamism.

According to WhoScored, he has been averaging 3.1 tackles per 90 in Serie A this term, and has an impressive pass completion rate of 88%.

He tends to do a lot of things generally quite well, and the zip he would provide might just help Everton starting climbing the table.
