Tottenham’s senior defender Jan Vertonghen is reportedly wanted by two clubs in the January transfer window.
According to the Telegraph, Italian outfit Napoli want to move for the 32-year-old this month and failed with an approach last summer.
It is understood that the centre-back’s former club Ajax are also keen and want to try re-sign him to bolster options at the back.
The report explains that the Belgium international has had no breakthrough with his contract talks at Spurs and his current deal expires in the summer.
It means that teams can negotiate a pre-contract agreement to sign him on a free transfer next summer, but Napoli and Ajax want to try land January swoops.

TBR’s View:
Vertonghen has been an incredible servant for Spurs since he joined in 2012, but it does seem like his time in North London may slowly be coming to an end.
The left-footed defender endured a poor display in the 1-0 defeat to Southampton on Wednesday and he’s not quite the Rolls-Royce defender he once was.
He’s been used at centre-back and left-back since the arrival of Jose Mourinho as manager, but it’s quite telling that he’s not yet signed a contract extension while other teammates have.
It would be no surprise to see Vertonghen thrive if he joined Napoli or Ajax, as the pace of the Premier League is starting to catch up with him.
