Report names who'll take charge of Newcastle vs Tottenham
A report from the Daily Mirror has shared who will take charge of Newcastle United for their first game back from the international break, at home to Tottenham Hotspur, amid doubts over the future of manager Steve Bruce.
Bruce is facing questions about his future following the dramatic takeover of the Magpies this week.
The 60-year-old has struggled to win over supporters during his time in charge. And it seems that a change is coming.
According to the Daily Mirror, Bruce is likely to be moved on this coming week. The board apparently feel that a new direction is needed.
However, his permanent successor is not waiting in the wings, it seems.
The Mirror reports that Graeme Jones is set to take charge of the clash with Tottenham as caretaker. In fact, it is claimed that he could be in the role for a few weeks.
Newcastle fans will welcome change of direction with Bruce reportedly set to be replaced as manager
It is probably not going to do anyone any favours if Bruce remains in charge of Newcastle much longer.
Despite the takeover, the squad cannot be changed until January. And with that, their focus will be on getting away from the bottom three.
They will certainly receive a lift from everything happening off the pitch. But Bruce remaining in place will not go down well with the fans.
He will also be aware of the reports. And if he has not received assurances about his position, he will surely welcome the board’s decision, whatever it is.
