West Ham United are interested in signing Mariano Diaz, as well as Real Madrid teammate Luka Jovic, according to a report from Spanish outlet Defensa Central.
It would be little surprise to see David Moyes look at signing a new striker in one of the future windows. Michail Antonio has continued his impressive form, with three Premier League goals already.
Sebastien Haller is also off the mark for this campaign. But the Hammers are in a precarious position as they do not boast a lot of depth up front.
The Sunday Mirror (1/11; page 61) reported at the start of the month that the Irons wanted to take Jovic on loan. It was noted that Los Blancos are ready to transfer list Jovic – who cost £53.9 million, according to the London Evening Standard – and would be willing to consider a loan with an option to buy.
But it appears that Jovic is not the only Madrid player on Moyes’s radar. Defensa Central also suggests that the Serbia international is wanted by the Scot.
But it is claimed that West Ham are also keen on Mariano.
Mariano has played a peripheral role for Madrid this term due to illness. But the report claims that Zinedine Zidane no longer trusts either player.
TBR View: Jovic would be a much more exciting signing
Defensa Central adds that Real deem Jovic to have a lot more potential than Mariano. And it is claimed that the 22-year-old is likely to be the player more determined to seek a move away.
Mariano could potentially be an exciting signing for a club like West Ham. But if Jovic is available and keen on a move, it is surely a no-brainer to prioritise a bid for him.
