Southampton have opened contract talks with Danny Ings and Ryan Bertrand, according to a report from the Daily Mail.
The Saints have enjoyed an incredibly busy summer. But, while they have brought in a couple of signings, much of the work they have done has been to tie down key men already at St Mary’s.

The Mail notes that Shane Long, James Ward-Prowse and Will Smallbone are amongst those to have penned fresh terms. Meanwhile, Ralph Hasenhuttl has also committed his future to the Saints in recent months.
And it appears that they are not done yet. The Daily Mail reports that they have begun discussions with Ings over extending his contract.

It is noted that he has two years on his £65,000-a-week deal, but Southampton are keen to agree a new long-term contract with their £20 million signing.
The Mail also claims that talks with Bertrand have also got underway.
TBR View: Huge boost for Saints if they agree double deal
Southampton fans will be hoping that there are more new signings to come. They have made a promising start by bringing in Kyle Walker-Peters and Mohammed Salisu.
But agreeing new contracts with Ings and Bertrand would be a further statement. The pair are key men, making 63 Premier League starts between them last season.
It would be little surprise if they were also attracting attention. Ings, of course, scored 22 league goals last term. Meanwhile, Bertrand has been one of the league’s most consistent left-backs since his arrival on the south coast.
Southampton have been moving in the right direction again for some time. Tying Ings and Bertrand down to fresh terms would simply provide another reminder of their progress.
