Report: Mourinho wanted Belotti at Tottenham and now is looking to take him to Roma

Italian website CalcioMercato have claimed that Jose Mourinho wanted to sign Torino skipper Andrea Belotti during his time at Tottenham Hotspur and is now looking to land the Italian at Roma – while Spurs are said to remain interested in the forward.

Belotti, 27, has been in sensational form for Torino – ever since he joined the Serie A club in 2015. The 32-time Italy ace has clocked up 227 in the burgundy of Torino, scoring 105 goals in that time. He is renowned as one of Serie A’s best strikers.

The report claims that Mourinho wanted to sign Belotti at Tottenham until he was sacked by Daniel Levy – but that interest remains and wants to take him to Roma. However, other reports state that Spurs are still interested in landing Belotti.

The Mail states that Belotti has been offered to Tottenham among other Premier League sides – with £25million said to be enough to convince Torino to sell. However, Spurs could be beaten by Mourinho in the race to sign Belotti.

TBR’s view – Belotti would be a sensational signing

But he clearly won’t join Spurs unless Harry Kane departs. If Kane stays, Belotti is obviously going to ignore a move to Spurs as he will hardly want to leave a Serie A side he captains – to being second choice at a side struggling to reach the top four.

Joe Hart is a big fan, telling Gianluca Di Marzio in 2017 – during a loan spell at Belotti’s Torino: “Andrea is similar to all the great strikers, English and not. It’s hard to compare him to someone else because he’s special.”

If he is indeed, available for £25million, it is a no-brainer.
