Tottenham Hotspur will have to see off competition from Jose Mourinho if they hope to sign Mauro Icardi, with Italian outlet Calciomercato reporting that Roma are one of the clubs keen on the striker.
Icardi looks set to be on the move this summer. The Argentinian has only made 11 starts in Ligue 1 for Paris Saint-Germain this season.

Calciomercato reports that he wants to return to Italy. And it is suggested that he has been offered to AC Milan while there has also been contact with Juventus.
Interestingly, the report suggests that Roma could also be a possible destination for Icardi. It is claimed that the club have every intention of delivering a superb goalscorer ahead of Mourinho’s first year in charge of the Giallorossi.

That is potentially significant following reports from France earlier in the weekend. L’Equipe claimed that Spurs view Icardi as a potential replacement for Harry Kane.
So if Kane does leave this summer, Tottenham may have to battle Mourinho for the 28-year-old.
TBR View: Hard to see Tottenham making Icardi move
Tottenham will surely fancy their chances of keeping Kane this summer. It is hard to see any side being able to fund the kind of bid that would tempt Daniel Levy to sell.
And Icardi will not come cheap. Calciomercato suggests he is on around £149,000-a-week at Parc des Princes.
So you could certainly understand why Tottenham fans may not be expecting Icardi to arrive in North London anytime soon.
And perhaps it may be Mourinho who benefits should Spurs not follow up on their reported interest.
