Report: Mourinho in talks to sign Arsenal, Everton and Villa-linked star after Xhaka failure, will cost £21.25m

Italian website CalcioMercato claim that Jose Mourinho’s Roma are in talks to sign Fulham midfielder Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa this summer. Anguissa caught the eye for Fulham last season, despite relegation. Arsenal, Everton and Villa are linked – but Mourinho is leading the race for Anguissa.

Anguissa, 25, surpassed 200 club appearances during 2020-21 with Fulham – clocking up 36 Premier League outings for the Cottagers. While he failed to prevent going down, Anguissa was one of numerous Fulham players to impress. Joachim Andersen is another example, joining Crystal Palace.

CM say that Mourinho is in talks to sign the Fulham and Cameroon star – with Fulham requesting a fee of £21.25million. The Mail said back in May that Arsenal, Villa and Everton all want to consider Anguissa. But Mourinho has taken charge, with a player out of contract in the summer of 2023.

Which club suits Anguissa – Roma, or Arsenal, Everton and Villa?

A move to Roma is glamorous. The chance to shine under Mourinho, and the fact he will get plenty of game time at Roma – given they are keen to sign a midfielder. With Xhaka staying at Arsenal, Anguissa might choose against The Gunners. Villa need a midfielder, but they want James Ward-Prowse.

The Southampton skipper is much more likely to move to Villa Park – following Danny Ings in joining the Midlands club. Everton could do with another midfielder, but they have plenty of options. Surely, then, a move to Roma makes most sense in the coming weeks.
