Alfredo Morelos could leave Rangers after their exit from the Champions League.

What’s the story?

According to A Bola, the exit at the hands of Malmo could ‘encourage’ the Colombian’s departure.

And it could be a double blow because the report claims the club could also be forced to demand a lower fee.

Steven Gerrard’s outfit have always wanted no less than €15m (£12.7m) for the South American.

Porto are the most interested party with the Primera Liga side searching for a replacement for Moussa Marega. The Mali international departed the team for Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia.

There are two factors that could seduce the player into joining the club this summer. The fact they will play in the Champions League and a higher salary.

Morelos is earning just £33k-per-week with the Glasgow giants.

Rangers need to secure a like-for-like replacement for Morelos

The ‘very good’ Colombia international has been a standout figure for the Gers since he joined in 2017.

Last season he scored 17 times in all competitions as the outfit lifted the Scottish Premiership title.

It was the first time the club won in 10 years as they broke Celtic’s stranglehold in the division.

Losing Morelos would be devastating for Rangers amid talk he could leave. A like-minded replacement is extremely necessary for the club as they look to defend their league crown.

Meanwhile, Michael Stewart says one player is better than Morelos.
