According to a report from the Daily Mirror, Arsenal continue to keep Mikel Arteta on their radar as the pressure builds on Unai Emery.
Emery looks to be facing a fight to keep his job at the Emirates. Arsenal are five points off the Premier League’s top four and will be looking for their first top flight win in more than a month by the time they face Leicester City this weekend.

The Daily Mirror reports that the Gunners want to give Emery every chance to turn his fortunes around. But the club want a top four finish this season, and it appears that the board could lose patience if the gap increases any further.
The Mirror notes that Arteta is one name who remains in the Gunners’ thoughts. The Manchester City assistant was reportedly a contender for the job before Emery came in.

Some Arsenal fans may prefer to see a more established name get the job. Arteta is yet to get his own managerial career off and running, so it could be something of a gamble to approach the Spaniard.
However, he is learning from the world’s best in Pep Guardiola. And given Arsenal’s current struggles, it would be little surprise if a number of the players responded positively if Arteta replaced Emery.
It would be a roll of the dice given how important a top four finish is. But Emery does not appear to be doing himself any favours at the moment. And missing out on Champions League football once again is surely going to hurt Arsenal a lot more than the cost of getting rid of Emery.
