Arteta gives Odegaard a week off training

Goal reports that ahead of the Wolves game, Arteta planned for the squad members not involved in the World Cup to be given a week off. This includes Odegaard as Norway didn’t qualify for the tournament in Qatar.

The squad members have been given permission to enjoy a holiday with their families before they return to Arsenal training next week.

Odegaard has already racked up a total of 19 appearances for the Gunners this season and will undoubtedly benefit from some much-needed rest.

The Arsenal skipper has played a pivotal role during the first-half of the campaign and should be raring to go after the World Cup.

But the squad members who are involved in the tournament have now headed off to link up with their national teams.

A total of ten Arsenal players will be representing their national teams at the World Cup, including the likes of Ben White, Thomas Partey, Gabriel Jesus, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.

Arteta will be hoping his key players can avoid picking up any injuries, with just eight days separating the World Cup final and Arsenal’s return to action on Boxing Day.

As for the rest of the squad, they will be able to continue training after their break and prepare for what looks set to be an exciting second-half of the season in north London.
