Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is reportedly now ‘desperate’ to land Chelsea midfielder Jorginho on loan before Monday’s transfer deadline.
ESPN claim the Gunners boss will now focus his efforts on signing the Brazilian-born Italian midfielder after seemingly missing out on Houssem Aouar.
Talks between Arsenal and Lyon are said to have broken down, and Aouar is set to stay with the French outfit for at least another season.

ESPN suggest Jorginho has now emerged as a priority for Arteta, but Chelsea are reluctant to let the 28-year-old leave without bringing in a new face.
That said, the publication also adds that Frank Lampard recognises the need to reduce a bloated squad.
Jorginho started for the Blues yesterday against Crystal Palace in the Premier League scoring twice from the penalty spot during a 4-0 win.
TBR’s View – A loan move would be difficult
Arteta may now be more keen to snap up Jorginho, but a deal still seems somewhat unlikely.

Aside from his two goals yesterday, the £110,000-a-week star (Spotrac) produced a really good performance alongside N’Golo Kante in the engine room.
He seems to still have a lot to offer for Chelsea, and is just deadly from the penalty spot with that unusual technique
The transfer window is known for throwing up surprises though, and Arteta might just be able to get his man on a temporary basis.
