Report: Mikel Arteta could give Jordi Osei-Tutu his Arsenal chance next season

Arsenal may turn to one of their youngsters next season to fill the problem right-back role, according to a report.

It is suggested that Mikel Arteta wants a new right-back to challenge current starter Hector Bellerin. However, whilst he would like to bring in Max Aarons from Norwich City, finances will likely dictate that he won’t be in a position to do so.

Instead, a more likely avenue is either snapping up Southampton loanee Cedric Soares permanently or, as Goal suggest, giving Jordo Osei-Tutu a chance to shine.

The 21-year-old from Slough has been out on loan in Germany this season with 2.Bundesliga side VfL Bochum.

After initially struggling to cement his place as a regular in the Bochum first-team he has been in fine form more recently, albeit in a more advanced role.

The full-back has scored three goals and provided one assist in his last seven games and been catching the eye with his displays.

Former Arsenal boss Unai Emery is said to be a fan of the player. According to a report in The Sun last July, teams from Germany, France and the United States were all keen on the player but Emery put a block on the £100,000 2015 signing from Reading leaving the club.

Now it seems that Arteta could be set to benefit from the Spaniard’s foresight, if the Ghanaian talent can prove a hit at The Emirates Stadium.
