According to Sky Sports, Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez is keen to join West Ham United this summer but is yet to agree personal terms with the east London outfit. The Hammers have had a £29 million offer accepted by the La Liga club and are now attempting to come to an agreement with the 22-year-old forward.
Gomez would be a fine addition to Manuel Pellegrini’s squad. The young Uruguayan has huge potential. In the Spanish top flight last time out, he notched 13 goals and 5 assists in 35 appearances. The 12-cap Uruguay international is already playing at a high standard, and almost certainly has his best years still ahead of him.
The Hammers have shown great ambition in recent transfer windows and would be continuing in that vein with the signing of Gomez. The Irons would be taking another great step forward by securing the exciting young attacker’s services.
However, first they must succeed in agreeing personal terms. The London Stadium ought to take heart from the fact that Gomez is clearly keen to join their club, but until a move is confirmed the prospect of the deal falling through remains.
