Argentine website TYC Sports have claimed that Mauricio Pellegrino is looking to raid old side Southampton to sign one the club’s out-of-favour attackers in Guido Carrillo, and bring him to Argentine club Velez Sarsfield.
Pellegrino joined Southampton as manager in the summer of 2017 and signed target man Carillo from Monaco for a whopping £19million (BBC) in the January of that season. He has since played just 10 times for Southampton.
Pellegrino was sacked in March, two months after signing Carillo. The former Liverpool defender then took Carillo on loan to Leganes for 2018-19, and re-signed him for 2019-20 – only for Pellegrino to be sacked in October.
Now, Pellegrino has replaced Gabriel Heinze at Velez Sarsfield in his home country and wants to sign Carillo for a fourth time. It is believed Velez have opened talks with Carrillo, who is in the final years of his Saints contract.

TBR’s view – Southampton should do all they can to sell Carrillo
Carillo is nowhere near the striker that scored 21 goals and created 10 more in 95 games for Monaco. He has netted 10 goals for Leganes in two seasons, and there is simply no future for him at Southampton.
Getting rid of Carrillo should be of utmost importance to the Saints hierarchy this summer and if Pellegrino wants to sign the striker for a fourth time – then Southampton should do all they can to encourage such a move.
