Tottenham Hotspur have been dealt a huge blow, with Football London reporting that Matt Doherty could be out for up to 12 weeks with a knee injury.
Doherty came off during the first-half of Spurs’ 4-0 win over Aston Villa. He tried to carry on after being on the end of a robust challenge from Matty Cash. However, he was unable to.

And it would appear that he will play no further part in the campaign. Football London is reporting that Doherty has ruptured his knee ligaments and will now miss the next three months.
It is noted that no decision has yet been taken on whether he will undergo surgery. But clearly, he is not expected to play any further part in the season for Tottenham as they push for the top-four.

Matt Doherty injury now seems a massive blow for Tottenham
Doherty went more than two months without a Premier League appearance early on in the campaign. However, that was largely down to the right-back being out of favour under Nuno Espírito Santo.
Now, Doherty missing the rest of the season seems devastating for Spurs and the Irishman. He has turned his career around Antonio Conte. And he had become a huge player for Tottenham in recent weeks. Conte only spoke of how ‘important‘ he has become to Spurs at the weekend.
Emerson Royal has been better of late. But he still has plenty to do before he silences all of his doubters in North London.
He will now get that opportunity. And it seems imperative that he does step up with Tottenham still having work to do to secure fourth spot.
He has big shoes to fill with Doherty looking so impressive for some time now.
